Konstantinos (“Kosta”) Ligris, Esq.

Mr. Ligris is the founder and CEO of Ligris + Associates PC prior to which he was an associate attorney at a Boston based real estate law firm, focusing on residential and commercial real estate matters. Mr. Ligris obtained his Bachelor of Sciences degree in Human Physiology from Boston University’s Sargent College of Health Sciences and spent time as an associate researcher at Tufts University School of Medicine and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston before attending law school. During law school Mr. Ligris interned with the Town of Brookline’s Town Counsel Department providing research and support to Town Counsel in defending and representing the Town of Brookline in various civil and municipal matters.

Upon graduating law school, Mr. Ligris operated a general law practice based in Brookline, MA representing individuals, businesses and organizations in civil disputes, general business matters, collection, and criminal charges.  Mr. Ligris has very extensive experience in representing dentists and other professionals in the acquisition, sale, structuring and financing of professional practices. He has represented individuals and entities in the purchase, sale, leasing, financing, licensing and structuring of restaurants, cafes, dry cleaning, laundry and other small businesses. Attorney Ligris has extensive experience in secured transactions, representing lenders and borrowers in commercial asset based transactions. He has handled licensing matters for clients seeking licenses with local municipal boards, and state agencies such as appeals with the Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Commission.

Mr. Ligris’ real estate experience includes several years as a real estate broker with Coldwell-Banker Hunneman Real Estate (presently Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage), where he continues to teach continuing education classes to Real Estate Brokers and Salespersons for the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage training program.  Attorney Ligris is a licensed instructor by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Board of Registration of Real Estate Brokers and is licensed to teach licensing and continuing education courses to Real Estate professionals throughout the Commonwealth. He has been an invited speaker and has provided training and presented seminars for multiple offices of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, Hammond Residential Real Estate, the Massachusetts Realty Guild and its affiliated independent offices, the Greater Boston Real Estate Board, and the Massachusetts Association of Realtors. Mr. Ligris has also been a presenter at continuing education seminars for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) and is the co-author of "Practice Tips for Residential Real Estate Paralegals".  He has taught seminars regarding historic homes, historical preservation laws, demolition delay ordinances, and tax benefits associated with historic property preservation.  He has served as a commissioner by appointment by the Mayor of Boston, MA for the Fort Point Channel Landmark District in Boston, MA.  Attorney Ligris has presented on important and developing topics, on how real estate professionals can build their business and avoid getting into trouble in the field. Attorney Ligris has been recognized as a Rising Stars Super Lawyer in Real Estate law.

Attorney Ligris regularly researches and trains real estate professionals and lenders on changes in regulatory and compliance topics involving the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), the regulations of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and other state and federal mortgage and lending disclosure laws. 

Attorney Ligris’ practice now concentrates on residential and commercial real estate transactions and business transactions; he represents buyers, sellers, lenders, and developers in the acquisition, sale, financing, and development of residential and commercial real estate.  Attorney Ligris represents developers in the creation and development of condominiums and multi-family development projects.  He also represents developers and condominium trusts/associations in interpreting, drafting and amending condominium organizational documents; negotiating the terms of condominium association loans; and advising associations on a wide range of governance and compliance issues. As a long standing agent of some of the country’s largest title insurance underwriters, and as approved closing counsel for hundreds of institutional lenders Attorney Ligris has very significant experience in reviewing and assessing title matters and problems.  Under his leadership, the firm is the largest agent in Massachusetts for Fidelity National Title Insurance, the nation’s largest title insurance underwriter.  He is frequently retained to assess title and issue policies of title insurance in commercial and residential acquisition and/or financing transactions by real estate departments of other law firms. He has represented and advised lenders in assessing title matters and claims, and reviewing files with post-closing compliance and title problems.
Mr. Ligris lives in Boston, Massachusetts and speaks fluent Greek and is proficient in both French and Italian.  He is a Benefactor of the TomorrowNight Event benefiting the children of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Mr. Ligris has served multiple terms on the Parish Council’s Executive Committee for the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church in Watertown, MA and as a member of the Metropolis Council for the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston.

Stephanie Asimakopoulos, Esq.

Attorney Stephanie Asimakopoulos is an Associate at Ligris + Associates P.C.  Prior to joining the firm, Attorney Asimakopoulos worked in mortgage banking for both a national and regional lender in an operations and operational management capacity. Attorney Asimakopoulos has overseen closing operations at the firm and trained paralegals in pre-closing, closing and post-closing capacities.  She has very extensive experience in the residential lending, settlement, title, escrow and closing process.  Attorney Asimakopoulos currently represents buyers, sellers and lenders in all phases of residential real estate transactions.  Attorney Asimakopoulos is licensed to practice law in both Massachusetts and Connecticut.  She received her Doctorate of Jurisprudence from the Massachusetts School of Law.  Prior to attending law school, Attorney Asimakopoulos received a Bachelor of Finance Degree from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.  Attorney Asimakopoulos is a lifelong resident of Belmont, MA, and is involved in various organizations within her community.  She is a member of the Boston Bar Association, and the Women’s Bar Association.  Attorney Asimakopoulos is fluent in Greek and proficient in Spanish.

David Forrest, Esq.

Mr. Forrest is an associate attorney at Ligris + Associates and is based in the firm’s Back Bay office.  Attorney Forrest works directly with Attorney Kosta Ligris and his team representing individuals in residential and commercial real estate transactions. Prior to joining Ligris + Associates, Attorney Forrest worked at a small boutique Boston based law firm concentrating on residential real estate transactions and real estate litigation. Attorney Forrest has significant experience in drafting residential real estate agreements, closing instruments and researching and curing title defects.  Attorney Forrest has also clerked for the Administrative Law Judge at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. He is a native of Melrose, Massachusetts, and received his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School. Attorney Forrest received his undergraduate degree in Economics and German from Boston College. In his spare time, David is an avid tennis player, runner and enjoys reading about current events. 

Robin Gorenberg, Esq.

Robin Gorenberg is Of Counsel at Ligris + Associates. She concentrates her practice on estate planning, probate matters, and estate tax preparation, Robin has over twenty years of experience in these fields. Robin works with a variety of clients, ranging from young first time homebuyers to more established major property owners in need of estate tax planning. Her philosophy is to explain things to clients so that they can understand what they are doing and why, making them comfortable with the process and the ultimate documents. Robin is a graduate of Brandeis University and Boston College Law School and she has completed advanced courses in Boston University School of Law's Graduate Tax Program. She resides in the Boston area and welcomes the opportunity to consult with clients on wills, trusts and other estate planning matters.

Elizabeth J. Grimes, Esquire

Prior to joining Ligris + Associates PC in 2010, Attorney Grimes was the owner/founder of The Law Office of Elizabeth J. Grimes, LLC, specializing in real estate law and residential real estate matters. Elizabeth is skilled and experienced in all aspects of real estate law and focuses on preparation and review of purchase and sale agreements, advice on negotiation and financing options, short sale negotiation, real estate closings for purchases and refinances, and other services related to real estate transactions. Elizabeth graduated from Villanova University in 1999, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts with a double major of Political Science and Spanish, and earned her Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School in 2002. She is a current member of the Massachusetts Real Estate Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Massachusetts Women’s Council of Realtors and an affiliate member of the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Association. Elizabeth often lectures for the Massachusetts Realty Guild and several Massachusetts real estate offices. Elizabeth resides in Needham, Massachusetts and is conversant and literate in verbal and written Spanish.

Vasilios (Bill) Kotsiris, Esq.

Attorney Kotsiris joined Ligris & Associates PC after 11 years of operating his own real estate law firm, The Law Office of Vasilios B. Kotsiris, in downtown Boston. Attorney Kotsiris' practice concentrates on residential and commercial real estate transactions, condominium conversions and title insurance; He represents buyers, sellers, developers and investors in the purchase, sale, development and financing of real estate. Bill is regularly asked to speak at real estate firms and home buyer seminars lecturing agents, buyers and sellers on all aspects of real estate law. He received his B.A. in Political Science from Northeastern University and went on to receive his Juris Doctorate from Northeastern University Law School. Attorney Kotsiris is admitted to the Massachusetts Bar and is a member of the Massachusetts Real Estate Bar Association.

Nikolaos (“Nik”) Ligris, Esq.

Attorney Ligris joined Ligris + Associates PC in 2008 as the Director of Business Development; he came to the firm with over seven years of management, sales and underwriting experience in mortgage banking with a national lender.  Attorney Ligris has unparalleled experience in sales and marketing and works closely with local lenders, local and regional banks, national mortgage companies, real estate professionals and developers to assist them in building their practices and businesses. Attorney Ligris has an extensive network of contacts to assist the firm’s clients in growing their business and facilitating their operations and sales efforts.  Attorney Ligris was a member of one of the first graduating classes at of Boston University Academy in Boston, MA and he matriculated to Boston University where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology.  He obtained his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School.  In addition to his current role as the firm’s Chief Development Officer, Attorney Ligris represents lenders in residential and commercial transactions, involving both real estate and asset based transactions.  Attorney Ligris also represents buyers, sellers, investors and developers in the acquisition, sale, financing, and development of residential and commercial real estate. His extensive mortgage lending experience provides the firm and the firm’s clients with unparalleled knowledge, experience and understanding of issues and concerns dealing with the origination and underwriting of residential and commercial mortgages.  His mortgage background also provides the firm with valuable insight on compliance issues and detailed mortgage product solutions.  He frequently trains paralegals in residential lending protocols and has been a guest speaker at real estate companies and lender sponsored buyer seminars/programs.  Attorney Ligris was the inaugural winner of the Greater Boston Association of REALTORS Affiliate of the Year Award in 2010, he has been an active Affiliate Member of the Association since 2008, and he is proud of his appointment as Vice-Chairman of the Business Development Committee for 2013.     He resides in Needham, Massachusetts with his wife and two young sons.

Paula Lyons, Esq.

Attorney Paula Lyons graduated in 1989 with a B.A., cum laude, from Boston College.  In 1994, she graduated from Villanova University School of Law with a Juris Doctorate.   After law school, Attorney Lyons went directly into private practice in Maine, concentrating on domestic relations, residential real estate and probate matters.  Since moving back to the Boston area in 1997, Attorney Lyons’ primary focus has been residential real estate, including: the representation of buyers, sellers and a wide range of lenders in the acquisition, disposition and refinancing of both residential and commercial real estate; and tenant/landlord matters.   Attorney Lyons has been a guest speaker at various tenant/landlord and “first time home buyer” seminars.   Her charitable work includes volunteer work with the Special Olympics and the Alzheimer’s Association. She presently oversees the title review and production department of Ligris + Associates.  Attorney Lyons reviews title abstracts and research, directs staff in title resolution and curing and is the primary legal contact to our national title insurance underwriters.

Stamatina ("Tammy") Macherides, Esq.

Attorney Macherides obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Studies from Boston University’s College of Arts and Sciences and her Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School. Tammy as she is commonly referred to represents buyers and sellers in residential real estate matters and conducts closings for residential lending matters. Tammy lives in Needham, Massachusetts and speaks fluent Greek and is proficient in Spanish.

Attorney McArdle is an associate attorney at Ligris + Associates and is based in the firm’s Harvard Square office.  Attorney McArdle works with Attorney Kosta Ligris and his team representing individuals in residential and commercial real estate transactions. Prior to joining Ligris + Associates, Attorney McArdle worked in the real estate department at Choate Hall & Stewart representing clients in a wide variety of commercial and residential real estate matters.  Attorney McArdle graduated from Duke University in 2000 and received her Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School in 2006, where she was an Executive Editor of the Boston College Law Review. Attorney McArdle’s practice presently focuses on the representation of buyers, sellers and lenders in residential real estate matters. Kate currently resides with her family in Winchester.

Stefan Nathanson, Esq.

For 21 years Stefan has focused his practice on residential and commercial real estate transactions; he represents buyers, sellers and developers in the acquisition, sale and development of real estate. He has repeatedly been named one of the top real estate attorneys in Massachusetts by the Super Lawyers publication and by Boston Magazine.  Stefan is an approved closing attorney for many of the largest mortgage lenders in the country, as well as many mortgage brokers in Massachusetts.  Stefan joined Ligris + Associates in 2010 after serving as Of Counsel to the law firm of Barr and Cole for 16 years, during which time he focused his practice on residential and commercial real estate law.

For many years, Stefan has been committed to the enhancement of the legal profession and to the community at-large: Member, Standards and Practices Committee, Massachusetts Conveyancer's Association, 1998-2005; Co-Chair of the Real Estate Bar Association's ("REBA") Residential Real Estate Conveyancing Committee, 2007; Member, REBA Board of Directors, 2005-2007; Advisory Board Member, Newton Human Right's Commission, 1995-1998; Board Member, NEWTV, 1998-2000; Board Member, the Matty Eappen Foundation, 1999-2007;  Stefan is the Founder and Chairman of the Room to Dream Foundation, a Boston-based charity that creates healing environments for children with chronic illnesses.  For his work with the Room to Dream Foundation, the Boston Celtics awarded him the Heroes Among Us Award in 2007.

Stefan received his B.S. from Northeastern University graduating Cum Laude, and went on to receive his J.D. from Vermont Law School.  He was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1992, the Federal Bar in 1993, and has been a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association since 1992 and the Real Estate Bar Association for Massachusetts since 1994.

Stefan has been a guest lecturer for the Massachusetts Real Estate Bar Association, Boston CollegeLaw School, Northeastern University, and Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education in Boston, Massachusetts, and many local real estate brokerage offices.  He is co-author of Practice Tips for the Residential Real Estate Paralegal, MCLE Publications, 2005.  Stefan resides in Newton, Massachusetts.

Richard F. Payne, Esq.

Attorney Payne is the Chief Legal Officer at Ligris + Associates PC.  His responsibilities include training, managing and overseeing title, closing, and post-closing operations as well as managing quality control, compliance and title underwriting auditing and reviews.  Prior to joining Ligris + Associates Attorney Payne was an associate attorney at a Boston based real estate law firm, focusing on residential real estate transactions.   Mr. Payne obtained his Bachelor of Sciences degree in Pre-Law and Criminal Justice from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina and his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School. In addition to his management and training responsibilities Attorney Payne’s practice concentrates on residential real estate transactions; he represents buyers, sellers, and lenders in residential and commercial lending transactions. Attorney Payne also has very extensive experience representing both landlords and tenants in housing/rental disputes. Mr. Payne currently resides in Needham, Massachusetts.

Matthew Roberts is an associate at Ligris + Associates. Prior to joining the firm, Matt worked at Duane Morris LLP, a large nationally recognized law firm and a smaller Cambridge, MA based law firm, representing individuals, developers and municipalities in a variety of real estate matters. Matt is a native of Wayland, Massachusetts and received his Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School in 2002. Matt graduated from Tufts University in 1998 where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and Tufts Hillel. Matt specializes in all aspects of commercial and residential real estate matters, working with lenders, private individuals and developers in the financing, leasing and conveyancing of residential and commercial real estate. Matt's various charitable involvement includes working with Horizons for Homeless Children, Combined Jewish Philanthropies and Temple Ohabei Shalom where he teaches Hebrew school. Matt is an avid tennis player and enjoys spending time with his family on Cape Cod. Matt currently resides in Brookline.

Jeffrey Shargel, Esq.

Attorney Jeffrey R. Shargel manages the Shargel Group Division of Ligris + Associates, and is based in the firm’s Harvard Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts office.  Prior to joining the firm, Attorney Shargel was the owner/founder of The Law Office of Jeffrey R. Shargel (commonly known as “The Shargel Law Office”), based in Davis Square, Somerville, Massachusetts, a boutique firm that specialized in residential real estate conveyancing.  Attorney Shargel’s practice focuses on representing home buyers, sellers, lenders, and developers.  Attorney Shargel attended college at Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, graduating cum laude in 1998 with a B.A. in History and as a member of the Legal Studies Program. Thereafter, attorney Shargel studied law at Hofstra Law School in Hempstead, New York. At HLS, Attorney Shargel served as editor of the Hofstra Law Review. Attorney Shargel grew up in Framingham, Massachusetts, and after years of living in Cambridge and Somerville, now enjoys living in Winchester, Massachusetts with his wife and two daughters.

Christos Viores

Mr. Viores is the Chief Operating Officer at Ligris + Associates. Christos joined the firm after a successful ten year career in mortgage banking and originating, which included extensive operations and regional management for Countrywide Home Loans, as well as founding partner of a regional mortgage company in Arizona. As Vice President of Countrywide Home Loans, Christos was responsible for overseeing operations and originations for Arizona, Nevada and portions of California for a division of Countrywide Home Loans. He has extensive experience in operations management, project implementation, quality control, technology, security and compliance. Mr. Viores is a member of the first ever graduating class of the Boston University Academy and a graduate of Boston University’s Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences where he earned a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Human Physiology, cum laude. Mr. Viores is presently pursing his Juris Doctorate in the evening division of the New England School of Law in Boston.  Christos currently resides in Cambridge and oversees all of the firm's title and escrow operations.  He oversees and manages the firm’s pipeline management and tracking systems that assist the firm in delivering unmatched service and quality in title and escrow services in the firm’s coverage area. Mr. Viores along with the Chief Legal Officer oversees the pre-closing, closing and post-closing paralegals and support staff.  Mr. Viores is fluent in Greek, and is an avid tennis player, golfer and skier.
